I’m not a dreamer by nature, I’m a planner. Sometimes I get jealous of my free-spirited friends who seem endlessly optimistic with their heads in the clouds, jumping from big dream to big dream. Sometimes I wish I were a visionary. But then I look at my sexy well-organized closets, my well-crafted to do-lists, and my thoughtful strategic plans and realize, I like me.
Once in awhile, though, it’s good for me to get my head out of my black and white straight-lined reality and to see the world in colorful shapes of possibility. A week or two ago, I had a conversation that sparked a little dream. And that little dream birthed some bigger dreams. And before I knew it, I found myself in the clouds, dreaming big. I think dreams beget dreams.
It’s been fun to dream about the future. Fun to remember dreams I had in the past. Fun to remember that life could be different than the everyday ordinary if I pursue those dreams. I don’t want to get stuck in the monotony of my routine and miss out on something amazing.
So, to all you list-makers and planners, I challenge you today to spend a little time dreaming. Add it to your to-do list with a delightful check box if you need to. Dream about what you love, what makes you tick, what gets you out of bed in the morning. Dream about what you want to do with your time in 5, 10, and 50 years. Dream about how you want you marriage to be and your kids to turn out. Dream about your job.
And then let me know if you catch yourself dreaming when you should be planning.
I listened to this today and thought of this post! http://www.focusonthefamily.com/radio.aspx?ID={1B0A83ED-3B4A-4D26-B921-488F0F53E4FB}
